The young soldier is Sam Kaighen, my oldest son.  Here is a video taken at Fort Benning, GA at the graduation of his basic training outfit.  He was honored as the “Soldier of the Cycle” and allowed to lead the “Soldier’s Creed” before the whole platoon.

Not only did Sam join the United States Army this past year and a half, but he also accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior.  He got saved in January 2008, Baptized in March, and joined the Army in July.  All the gusto and enthusiasm and excitement you hear in his voice in this video, as a soldier, is being multiplied many times over in his spiritual life as a Christian.  He has joined the ranks of sold-out Bible-believing Christians who want to take the Gospel to a lost and dying world.

He followed the Lord in Believer’s baptism in Mineapolis, Minnesota.  My family and I and the good folks at Edinbrook Church watched with joyful hearts as Pastor Ivan immersed Sam.  Sam is now diligently trying to get his friends and loved ones to know the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior.  He has a heart that is hot after God and the will of God.

God has truly done a work of grace in his heart.  My, what a changed life.  Only Jesus has the power to do somthing like this, and we rejoice.  Oh, if you could only have seen him a couple years ago, you would not recognize him today.  Praise God.  The same life-change that Saul of Tarsus went through has happened to my son.

For all you parents out there that are praying for a soldier son, or are praying for a son or daughter whose life may have brought you many tears and heartaches, take hope!  Keep praying.  Never stop loving.  Keep on bombarding Heaven’s throne room with your constant prayers.  Prayer changes things.  No, wait a minute…  Prayer changes people.

The person who has had to do the most changing in this true-life story is me.  The dad.  I have received my correction from the hand of the Lord.  It has not been easy.  It has been extremely painful.  But through this last 5 years of tears, I have become a better dad, I hope.  And a better Pastor.

Wehave a merciful God.  The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s son, cleanseth us from all sin.  Bless the Lord.

I have 3 more teenage sons.  I hope that each one of them serves the Lord Jesus with all his heart, like their big brother.

So to all you terrorists out there:  BEWARE!  There are still a whole bunch of red, white, and blue Americans who love our God and our country.  You don’t scare us.  Greater is HE that is in us than he that is in the world!!!

The Muslims are taking over the world by sheer population explosion.

Pastor Jack Schaap of the great First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, shared this video clip with all of us at the Youth Conference this week.  It is totally shocking.  It is time for Christians to wake up and get our heads out of the sand.  We are not evangelizing the world.  We are not going into all the world and preaching the Gospel to every creature.  We are going to be over run by the Muslims in just a few short years.

You will not believe your eyes, but over 9 million viewers have seen these statistics, and it scary.  Without firing a shot, most of Europe will be Muslim in less than 2 decades.  The United States and Canada are being over run by Muslims.  If things continue (birth rates, immigration, etc.) America will no longer be a Bible-believing nation.  We will be a Muslim land with Mosques where churches stand today.  Unbelievable.

When Muslims are in the minority, they are very docile and compliant.  But go today to Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, or any of the “Muslim nations” of the world.  See what happens to you when you mention that you are a Christian.  See what happens when you try to share your faith to someone on the street.  See what happens when the Muslims are in the majority.  It is a very different world, indeed, than what we live in here in America, today.

What can we do?

This is not a call to arms.

This is not a call for American Christians to have more babies.

This is a call for every born-again, Bible-believing Christian to get busy obeying the Great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ.  This is a shocking warning, that if we don’t, we will be very, very sorry.  Very soon.  We know that we are supposed to be busy pointing people to the Savior.  We know that people without Jesus Christ as Savior cannot be saved.  We know the truth.

But if we do not do something with that truth, we will be crushed.

If my Christian friends in Pakistan and around the world who live in Muslim lands could only tell you the danger they are in every single day of their lives.  For nothing more than “being a Christian”.

America, you do not want to live in a Muslim land.  You have no idea what “religious intolerance” is until you live there.  God help us.

Let’s all get busy in the business of winning someone to Christ TODAY.  EVERY DAY.  NOW.  Before it’s too late.

Photo_112908_004Our Youth Department will be loading up the buses tonight and heading to the First Baptist Church Youth Conference in Hammond, Indiana.
Hyles-Anderson College always puts on a first-class Fireworks display on Thursday night by the lake, and our own teens are singing in the music competition. They have worked long and hard on a song called “I am Saved”, and Becky Kaighen is our motivated pianist/director. The 14 hour trip will take us through the night.
There are always hundreds of youth groups present from all over the nation. The preaching is teen-oriented, and super-powerful. The speakers all have a real strong appeal for the young people to serve the Lord and to “come clean for Jesus”.
This is not our first trip to this conference. Over the last 25 years we have attended often. Though a grueling drive, what I feel we get is worth far more than all the inconvenience of the traveling. Besides, the kids don’t mind the hours in the buses. To them, it is an adventure.
My wife will be our female adult chaperone. Though we are not as young as we used to be, still we love being with the kids. We don’t have a “youth pastor”, but we do had a “Youthful Pastor”. Hay hay!
AS far as the singing competition goes, the only thing we would gain by winning first place would be bragging rights. However, I am hoping that the kids know that we do all that we do for the honor and glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I will try to keep the Blog updated by my Twitter account. It posts instantly on the sidebar to the right.
You know, when I was a teen, I didn’t get to take any cool trips like this. Oh well. Glory to God.

Crown Bible College graduate (Powell, TN) and Basketball star, Joshua Cehulik, was our Sunday morning speaker at the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Norwalk, CT.

6′5 and spiritually alive!

Josh Cehulik and Becky Kaighen

According to his testimony during the sermon, Josh did not actually personally accept Jesus as his savior until late in his teen years, though he grew up in church and sunday school.

Coming from a good godly family and wonderful church, you’d think that a sharp young man like Josh had been saved a long time.  His demeanor, his behavior, and his attitude bespoke of character, discipline, and holiness.

While a student at Crown Bible College these last 4 years, Josh has distinguished himself in music and ministry.  He traveled with the summer tour program that represented the college across the southwestern United States.

He is serving in an innercity church in the New York area this month, and plans on returning to Crown for a Master’s degree in September.

barackAccording to a growing number of American and Kenyan sources, not only was Barack O’bama not born in Hawaii, but he was born in Kenya, Africa.  According to his own grandmother, who claims she was there at the time of his birth, Barack is Kenyan born.

Joe Kovacs, Jerome Corsi, Joseph Farah and Bob Unruh list the courts, lawsuits, and individuals who are presently spearheading the daunting effort to get to the bottom of this question.

Wayne Madsen, Journalist with Online Journal, traveled to Mombassa, Kenya, in June 2008, and claims they visited a hospital there and discovered a birth certificate for a “Barack O’Bama, born to a Kenyan man and a US woman.

The birth “certificate” used during the campaign by O’Bama’s people is not a “legal birth certificate”, as we all know who have had to prove our identity for any government or legal purpose.

Also very troubling is the fact that Barack O’Bama has had his college entrance records sealed, supposedly concealing the fact that he entered college as a foreigner and received student aid as such.

If O’Bama is not American born, can he be the President?  If he is proven to be unqualified to be President of the United States of America, then what?  Where will this information lead?  Will it matter?  Will it change anything?

Who can say at this point.

However, when I read this troubling story, it reminds me of what millions of people are going to say when they get to the judgment day.

God will say, “Have you been born again?”  “When?”  “Where?”  You’d better know.

“Well, I joined a church.”  Wrong answer.

“Well, I am basically a good person.”  Wrong again.

“I have tried to obey the 10 commandments.”  Wrong.  Trying to, and Succeeding at, are two different things.  No one keeps all the commandments all the time.  It is impossible.  That’s why Jesus came to die:  For Sinners!

Besides, salvation is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should b…o…a…s…t!  Ephesians 2:8,9.

Jesus paid it all on the Cross of Calvary so we don’t have to.  Anyone, no matter who, that accepts Christ as their personal Savior is guaranteed eternal life.

Better check your records!  Make sure you know when and where you became a citizen of Heaven!

You can’t make it up.  For sure, you can’t fool God.   Salvation is not something you can fabricate.  Either you have been to Jesus and humbled your proud arrogant heart and been born again, or else your “Legal Status” for eternal life in Heaven will be forfeited.

Recently, I have been wondering how to keep the church afloat financially!  So I have been distributing leaflets around town about “Donate your car  and we will come pick it up”

I have even gone down to the DMV and checked out the price of advertizing this fund raiser idea on their overhead banner boards that scroll along while people sit endless hours waiting their turn.

But after viewing this guy in the pictures, I sort of figured maybe it isn’t worth it.

It reminds me of the way things turn out when we try to live our lives without the Lord Jesus Christ.  We are just asking for trouble.  Put the Lord Jesus at the controls of your life.  You’ll be a lot happier in the end.

I have a Christian friend in Pakistan named Andrew.  He tells me that last week a small Christian village was attacked and burned, and the Christian men were jailed by the Muslims of a neighboring town.  Please pray for Bro. Andrew and the other believers who have been harmed.

Christians again attacked in Kasur

1.  How blessed we are to live in America, where there is truly “Religious Liberty”.  I have Muslim friends, and some of them even attend our church.  I can’t imagine being unkind to them.

2.  Oh, how people need the Lord Jesus as their Savior.

3.  We need to pray for our Christian brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering persecution.

4.  Without Jesus Christ, we would all probably be full of hate and enmity for one another.  But because of His life-transforming power, those of us who are saved can forgive and love even our enemies.

According to the FDIC failed bank list, Seven more banks were closed Thursday, July 2.  That is the most per day for any day this year.  And, Thursday brought the total amount of failed banks up to 52 since January 1, 2009.  There haven’t been that many bank closings at this rate, since the great depression.

What is going on?

None of us can know the future, but we can be sure of one thing:

It is time for all of us to wake up and seek the Lord.  There is a great danger in placing too much value in temporal things.   Eternity is looming just over the horizon, and the things of this earth will matter zilch when we reach our home over there.  Money, pleasures, property, things, all dim and lose their value when compared to the celestial city called Heaven.

Spend your life in such a way, that when you reach Heaven, there will be no regrets.

Josh Cehulik will be the special guest speaker at the Lighthouse Baptist Church on Sunday morning July 12.  This boy can sing, folks!  His trumpet playing is awesome.  He is a recent graduate of Crown College in Powell, Tennessee.  He was the Basketball star while there.  He grew up in Tonawanda, New York and his family attends the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Tonawanda.

He is currently dating our daughter, Becky, so she is glad that he is coming!!!

This summer, we are featuring several young men who have given themselves to the Lord for His service.  They are very challenging to us, because their dedication is so fresh and current.  The young people of our church have really been blessed and they are responding to the messages of these young men.

Personally, it is exciting to this old preacher to see young men that are heading down the right road, and yielding their life to the Lord.
