The sermons of the summer have blown our socks off!  We have had some of the greatest young preachers in America preaching for us.  Awesome!

Brynner Trepovocht brought his new bride, Marissa.  They were wed on July 4 in St. Luis Potosi, Mexico.  What a handsome, sharp couple they are.  Brynner’s mom and dad and uncle were guests of honor as they heard the powerful sermon and rejoiced with the rest of us at the blessings of God on these young people.

Brynner grew up here in Norwalk from the 3rd grade on.  He graduated from our academy, and served as the custodian for the church or a while.  He and I spent many hours hunting deer together.

Marissa’s Pastor, Luis Ramos, is my old friend from many years ago while in Bible College in Hammond.  His wife, Karen, played the piano wonderfully for the Junior C Department in the Siefer Building when we all served the Lord there together.  What happy memories.

Brynner has a very special place in the hearts of all our church members, and they participated whole-heartedly in giving an offering for the newly-weds.  We enjoyed stuffing money in his pockets.

James Riley is now serving at the First Baptist Church in Hammond in the Bus Maintenance department.  He maried the Greek teacher’s daughter, Emily (Penns).  They brouht their lovely family out a couple weeks ago and preached for us.  James was a new-born babe in Christ when he first came to the Lighthouse.  He was an engineer student at Poly-Tech University just outside Albany, NY.  He was working in Stamford, CT at the Pitney Bowes Headquarters.  He came to our church because his pastor up there mentioned the Lighthouse to him.  While here, he heard the Hyles-Anderson College summer tour group as they sang for us, and the Lord touched his heart about attending Bible College.  He left his dream of becoming an engineer, and surrendered to do the Lord’s work with his life.  I mentioned to him, while he was here, that there is a GREAT need for Pastors all along the East Coast.  After hearing him preach last week, I think I would call him out here, IF I WERE THE LORD.

Yesterday, Bro. Andy Schultz, 12 year veteran missionary to Zambia Africa, preached the morning message for us.  Unbelievable.  We took them on for support while they were on deputation 14 years ago.  They have been faithful and fruitful for all these years.  Not without dificulties, hardships, and opposition, mind you.  They have done the work of the Lord in a dificult place.

Which reminds me, our good people made Faith Promise Missions committments last September, just before the stock market fell, and the economy went sour.  To the glory of God, and to HIS honor and praise, we the great people of this amazing church have NOT ONLY kept their commitments…They have already exceeded their promised giving.  What an awesome church.  It has not been easy here in Fairfield County.  Many folks have lost their homes to the sub-prime mortgage crisis.  Many have lost their jobs.  To the praise of King Jesus, I can honestly say that: All those who have kept their missions commitments have still got their jobs and their income and their homes.  Some months people told me how hard it was to give.  I know personally, how tight it has been for them.  This is a testimony of the faithfulness of God.  Where God’s hand guides, God’s hand provides.

It is easy to serve the Lord when everything is going good.  But when you get the privilege to see Christians serve the Lord faithfully  in troublous times, IT IS GLORIOUS.

Here is the Video from Michigan, in case you couldn’t watch it.

I don’t know the individuals who took the video, but I am glad they did.
America, we are in trouble. We had better wake up.

Murder!  Burn!  Destroy!  The Muslims have the Christians in the minority in many countries, so they are working them over BIG time.

The links above will give several horrible accounts of the attrocities committed JUST THIS WEEK alone!
What is happening over there is also beginning to happen in the US. Check out the one in Michigan.
I have a Christian friend in Pakistan. He quickly emailed me the following links that ran on the Pakistan television stations. The audio is not in English. Sorry.

I received the Baptist Bible Tribune Magazine this week, and in one of their articles they are poo-pooing the whole idea that radical islam is taking over. I don’t know what more proof some people need before they accept the fact that this world is quickly becoming VERY unsafe for Christian Believers… no matter where we live.
Again, I do not believe that we need a holy war against Islam. I do not believe that would accomplish anything.
I do, however, believe that we Christians need to get very busy obeying Our Lord’s Great Commission. It is our duty to win the lost to Jesus Christ. It is our duty to point everyone to Calvary and lead them to the Lord. If we don’t, our days are numbered.
My AnaBaptist friend in Pakistan has sent me many pictures of the believers there in prayer and public services. He and all the Christians are in mortal fear, and they have every right to be.  Wouldn’t you be, if your very neighbors killed a bunch of Christians just last night?

Oh, how we need to pray.  Oh, how we need to get busy.  Oh, how we need to quit playing church, and playing politics, and playing ostrich (with our heads in the sand)!!!

You know, maybe the Muslims are the ones that the Lord will use to punish our sin-sick American “rock concert” churches.  Maybe the Lord will use the followers of Islam to “clean house” on all these “no Bible”, “no standards”, “no doctrine” outfits.  I don’t know.  How could I know.  But He did worse things than that in the Bible days when His chosen people, Israel, got so far away from the Word of God, that you couldn’t even tell the diference from them and the heathens around them.

We have been called out and separated and chosen to be a peculiar people.  Christianity used to believe in something.  So many of the churches today have turned their back on God and His Bible.  The churches are being converted by the “world”, instead of the “world” being converted by the churches.  God help us.

I am not claiming to be a prophet.  But one could do worse than being a prophet of the Lord God.

I do not claim to know the future, but, brother, the hand-writing is on the wall.

What can we do?

Prayer and fasting comes to mind first.

Confessing our sins to the Lord rates way up there.

Going soul-winning is not far from the top of the list.

II Chronicles 7:14   If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
