Sodomy Fills the Land and No One Lifts a Hand

Sodomy Fills the Land, and no one lifts a Hand
September 11, 2009

Abraham and the Lord were arguing over the spiritual condition of Sodom.  Abraham had a reason for wanting to save Sodom… His nephew Lot lived there.  The Lord had a reason for wanting to destroy the place… It was full of sodomites.  Sodomy is an abomination to God Almighty.  It makes Him angry.  It is SOOO against His holy nature, that he can’t stand it.
“Lord, would you save the city if I could find 50 righteous people there?” Abraham pleads.
“Yes, for 50 righteous” the Lord agrees.
Knowing there weren’t that many decent folk living there, Abraham drops the number to 40, then to 35, then to 30, and so on, until finally God agrees to spare the city if 10 righteous people could there be found.
Obviously, there weren’t even that many, for the Lord sent 2 angels to destroy the land.

It was fire and brimstone.  Total destruction.  Sodom is completely blown off the map.

Why did this have to happen?  Was it fair?  Was it right?

Sodomy is the sin of homosexuality…  Man with man…  Woman with woman.  In every instance, it incurs the righteous wrath of God Almighty.  There are specific judgments associated with this grievous sin.  Venereal diseases, HIV, syphilis, and gonorrhea all have the highest occurrence among the sodomite population.  Some would say that the Tsunami that hit Indonesia 2 years ago was directed against the sodomy and sodomites along those beaches.  Some would say that Hurricane Katrina was directed against the sodomites of New Orleans, for the “dikes” broke on “Southern Decadence Day”.  Others might call it all mere coincidence.  Who can say with any authority?

But one thing is sure: you put yourself into a very high risk category when you participate in sodomite activity.

Sodomy is a chosen behavior.  It is not inherent.  It is not genetically received.  It is not “the way God made me.”  It may have been forced upon someone at a young age by another, but, now, it is an act of the will.  It is a choice.  It is an action.  We are all responsible for our choices and actions.  Responsibility is the issue here.  Modern man tries to claim that alcoholism, drug addiction, and sodomy are all dependencies that are “Not my fault”.  In reality, we make the choice to start, the choice to continue, and the choice to stop.

This is not to say the choice to stop any dependent behavior is going to be easy.  It will be the hardest thing you will ever do in your life.  You will need a lot of help.  Friends and family can be the greatest help at this time, and you might even need more structure than that (say, a treatment program, facility, or group).  But take responsibility for your own life.  Stop blaming others for mistreating you.  They may have hurt you in the past (and maybe even now, be doing so), but if you are ever going to be able to respect yourself, you have got to take responsibility for your own actions.

There is hope.  No one has to continue in a risky, undesirable, unnatural lifestyle.  The truth is, some of the finest members of society today, at one time or another, had a self-destructive lifestyle.  Maybe as a teen, or as a college student, or in the military, they did some things they are sooo ashamed of now.  Maybe they are even paying a price now for the mistakes of that period of their life.  But they woke up.  They snapped out of it.  They one day said, “I am sick of this.”  “I’m out of here.”  “This isn’t for me.”  And one way or another, they CHOSE to come clean.  And so can you.  Do not believe that you are doomed to live a certain way, just because you have become ensnared.  There is a way out.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
